We offer online courses for social change-makers. Our courses focus on equipping people around the world with practical tools and innovative mindsets to become more active and effective at tackling poverty. We have three types of learning experiences:

Are there instructors? Will my assignments be graded?

Team Courses and Master Classes are self-guided online learning experiences. Your assignments will not be reviewed or graded by an instructor.

How do I enroll in a course?

You can search all of Acumen Academy’s courses on the Course Catalog. Select a course to learn more. Then click “Enroll Now” to sign up for the next session.

I’m a new user. How do I create an Acumen Academy account?

I created a +Acumen account in the past. Why do I need to create a new account for Acumen Academy?

+Acumen has relaunched as Acumen Academy, the world’s school for social change.

What if I signed up for courses with multiple email addresses in the past?

If you signed up for courses using multiple email addresses in the past, you will have the opportunity to merge your accounts when you create a new Acumen Academy account.

Why can’t I see my past courses on my Acumen Academy dashboard?

You probably signed up for courses with a different email address in the past. To merge your accounts, visit your Dashboard and click “Something Missing?” to start the merging process.

Where can I find my old Statements of Accomplishment?

Your Statements of Accomplishments from previous courses are saved on your Dashboard.

I never got my email confirmation code. What should I do?

First, check your spam folder. If you still need help, email us at courses@acumenacademy.org. We’re happy to help!

How do I log in to Acumen Academy?

You can log in to Acumen Academy by visiting acumenacademy.org. Then, click “Log In.”

How do I log in to a course?

Our new platform makes it easier for learners to access all of their courses in one place. To access your course, visit your Dashboard and click on your desired course.

What if I don’t remember the email I used to sign up for courses in the past?

We can only merge your accounts if you have access to your old email address. The enrollment process will require you to confirm your account by email.

How can I change my password?

Go to your Dashboard and click on “Account Settings.” Then, click “Edit Profile” to change your password.

How can I update my email address?

Go to your Dashboard and click on “Account Settings.” Then, click “Edit Profile” to update your Acumen Academy email address.

Team Courses

What are Team Courses?

Team Courses are project-based courses that are designed to be taken with a team of colleagues or friends. Each course is 4–10 weeks in length and offered two to three times a year. The courses are free and hosted on the online learning platform NovoEd.

How do I enroll in a Team Course?

You can search all of Acumen Academy’s courses on the Course Catalog. Select a course to learn more. Then click “Enroll Now” to sign up for the next session.

The course has already started. Is it too late to register?

You can enroll up to two weeks after the start date for a Team Course. If you have missed the deadline, check out the Course Catalog to learn about the timing of the next session.

How do I log into a Team Course?

To access your course, visit your Dashboard and click on your desired course.

Do I need a team? Can I take a team-based course by myself?

Team Courses are designed to be taken by teams of 2–6 people, rather than by individuals. Teams can consist of friends, coworkers, classmates, and collaborators around the world.

How do I create a team and add team members?

Follow these instructions to form a team. First, all team members need to sign up for the course independently. Then, you will form a team on the NovoEd platform.

How do I remove or replace team members?

Follow these instructions to remove or replace members of your team.

When are the assignments due?

While the course is open, you can watch the videos, review the readings, and submit your assignments whenever you want. The weekly deadlines in the “Course Roadmap & Schedule” are suggestions to help you plan your time and keep up with other students.

How do I earn a Statement of Accomplishment?

To receive a Statement of Accomplishment, you must submit all of the required assignments before the final day of the course.

How can I withdraw from a Team Course?

Follow these instructions to withdraw from a Team Course.

What happens if I don’t finish a Team Course before the deadline? Can I sign up more than once?

You can sign up for Team Courses as many times as you like. If you would like to take a course again, check out the Course Catalog to learn about the timing of the next session.

Master Classes

What are Master Classes?

Master Classes are video-based courses that can be started at any time and completed at your own pace. These courses are paid and have no expiration date. They are hosted on the online learning platform Thinkific.

How do I enroll in a Master Class?

You can search all of Acumen Academy’s courses on the Course Catalog. Select a course to learn more. Then click “Enroll Now” to sign up for the next session.

How do I log in to a Master Class?

To access your course, visit your Dashboard and click on your desired course.

How do I earn a Statement of Accomplishment?

To earn a Statement of Accomplishment in our Master Classes, you must complete all of the pages and submit a Post-Course Survey.

What is the price of a Master Classes?

You can find pricing and other information about the course on the Course Catalog.

How can I request a refund?

You can request a full refund within 30 days of purchasing a course. To get a refund for a course purchased on Thinkific, please send an email to XXX and include your original receipt. Please allow 5–10 days for your refund to be processed.

Accelerators

What are Accelerators?

Accelerators are interactive learning experiences led by a facilitator for small cohorts of innovators from nonprofits and social enterprises.

How are Accelerators different from Acumen Academy courses?

We’ve heard repeatedly from our course participants that they want more facilitated interaction with peers and feedback on assignments. Since we can’t offer this at scale to thousands of learners in our free courses, we are excited to be piloting these new Accelerator models to provide more targeted feedback and support for a smaller group of committed students.

How do I apply for an Accelerator?

Each Accelerator program has its own application and eligibility requirements. To find out which Accelerator program is right for you, visit the Accelerator homepage.

How are participants selected?

Each Accelerator program has unique eligibility requirements and selection criteria.

Does it cost anything to participate in an Accelerator?

Some Accelerator programs charge for participation. Others are offered for free and may offer seed funding to select participants, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Acumen’s Accelerator partners.

Payments

How much do courses cost?

Team Courses are free and open for a limited period of time. Master Classes are paid and have no expiration date.

How can I receive a receipt for a course I have purchased?

You will be sent a receipt via email after purchasing one of our [Master Classes]. If you do not receive a receipt, please check your Spam or Junk folder. If you still haven’t received your receipt, please send an email to [insert email].

About the Acumen Fellowship

What is the Acumen Fellowship?

The purpose of the Acumen Fellows Program is to develop a community of leaders who challenge the status quo, work across lines of difference and inspire their communities to believe in a brighter future.

Who are Acumen Fellows?

The Fellows Program is designed for individuals who are currently leading or are an integral part of building an initiative whose mission is to eradicate poverty or injustice. Our Fellows are of all ages, come from diverse cultural, geographic and socioeconomic backgrounds and work across multiple sectors.

Who is eligible to apply?

Although many Fellows do work in social enterprises, successful candidates can be working in any sector (including for-profit, nonprofit, corporations, and government).

How does the Acumen Fellowship work?

Acumen covers all program-related expenses during the fellowship year. This includes all costs associated with the seminars including lodging, food, transportation and visas. Note that we do not provide scholarships, stipends, funding or insurance. (In some cases, need-based scholarships for travel and accommodation are provided to individuals selected to attend the Stage 3 Selection Conference; see the [regional program pages] to confirm details in your region.)

What is the Application & Selection Process?

On average, we select 20 Fellows per year in each region.
